This year, we were invited to build a booth for the San Francisco Flower and garden show, held at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California. This will be a showcase for our Japanese Meditation Garden, called, “The Garden of Souls and Peace”. This garden features a koi pond with aquatic plants that help filter and oxygenate the water for the fish. The aquatic plants also provide plant material for composting. The water from the pond is then fed to a drip system that not only waters the plants in the garden but will also provide nitrates for the plants, negating the need for chemical fertilizers. The gray water from the shower is used to water the drought tolerant, Kurapia in the garden.
Every year we help build a booth for Roberta Walker at the Home & Landscape Expo. This year we built a gazebo, did a small garden and water feature for her booth. The gazebo took about two weeks of pre-fab work and is built out of common heart redwood. All the wood was hand rasped and stained. The result was a very relaxing and cozy retreat, that would make any homeowner content.
The water feature was carved, by hand, from a single “Moss Rock”. Robert then added some plants and lighting to complete the effect.
Robert Walden, our founder, was mentioned in Sunset Magazine. Colaberating with Roberta Walker, our company helped to create a landscape that is not only beautiful, but also drought tolerant and fully sustainable.
